Toshiba UK on Thursday introduced the StorE TV+, a set-top box that lets users play back local multimedia content and that stored on their home PCs from their living room TVs. It contains a 2TB hard drive and connects to TVs via an HDMI port. Its hardware lets it playback HD content, and contains a wide range of audio and video codecs.

The TV sets need to be DLNA-compatible, and can show content from a nearby PC thanks to a wireless connection. Family photos can be shared quickly, as a three-in-one memory card reader is built into StorE TV+. Other connections include two USB ports, and one each of component video, RCA and Ethernet jacks.

The Toshiba StorE TV+ ships in September to the UK, priced at the equivalent of $ 307. Whether it is due for North America is unknown.
