iPhone 4 launches in China to huge crowds

Apple has enjoyed a huge surge of interest in its iPhone 4 in China. At least one thousand customers lined up at the new Beijing store, with some up to two days before the official launch. Verizon confirms 4G coming to 30 “NFL cities” in late 2010

At a Wednesday meeting with enterprise IT managers, Verizon Wireless revealed it will launch its 4G network in 30 NFL cities before year’s end. The high-speed network will be launched in remaining major US cities systematically until all are covered by 2013, said Verizon senior federal sales executive Bernie McMonagle. The major metropolitan areas are expected to be the 30 cities that are home to the 32 football teams in the NFL.

IDC: iPhone to drop to 11% share by 2014 while Android rises

Apple’s share in the smartphone will settle down over the next few years while Android makes a fast rise, IDC predicted today. Researchers expect the iPhone to drop from 14.7 percent today to 10.9 percent by 2014. Android would account for most of the switch, as it would overtake the BlackBerry and claim second place with 24.6 percent.

Macworld to bring iPhone to Mobile World Congress

Organizers for the GSM Association’s Mobile World Congress revealed today that Apple would have an unofficial presence at the phone trade show through Macworld Mobile. The magazine will have full-day training and sessions for developers specific to iOS devices. The next Congress is due to start February 14 next year.
The presence isn’t supported by Apple but could represent its first footprint at the annual Barcelona gathering. Apple has regularly avoided attending third-party, platform-independent trade shows since Steve Jobs’ return.
