Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu has raised his target for Apple stock from $ 350 to $ 374, citing the potential of “significant upside” to iPad shipments. Sources are said to indicate better screen supplies, eliminating a significant production bottleneck. Wu is now calling for as many as 5.7 million iPads to ship in the September quarter, up from a much lower prediction of 3.6 million.
The analyst moreover suggests that the iPad is having “slight cannibalistic impact” on MacBook sales, to the extent that a Mac forecast for the quarter has been reduced from 3.9 million to 3.8. iPhone More >
iPad may reach Target Oct. 3 to take on Kindle

Apple may make an aggressive inroad into the Amazon Kindle’s territory with an expansion into Target stores if a leak is true. Six versions of a mystery device have appeared in Target’s inventory system, all of which line up with Apple’s iPad pricing and which would show up October 3. The Engadget source backed up suspicions with photos of a PDA that have the devices going into the Digital Audio section of the store, where both iPods and the Kindle co-exist.
Representatives from Apple and Target weren’t available to comment.

Aug 27th
For some reason the used-video-games-as-controversy stars have aligned, and Best Buy and Target picked now of all times to announce new used game trade-in programs. Target is going to offer in store credit for all sorts of electronics trade-ins, including games and DVDs, with just a few stores for now, but expanding to 850 stores by the end of the year. Target isn’t making any mention of reselling that stuff just yet, but Best Buy plans to start selling used games “soon,” on top of the 600 stores it’s launching it own trade-in program in this week.
