The forthcoming Toshiba tablet may be called the ANT, according to a report. Already listed on Amazon as coming soon, the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet is claimed by Toshiba to trump the iPad 2 because of a superior feature set. Gigabyte’s S1080 dual-core Windows tablet ships to Taiwan

Gigabyte has started taking orders for its S108 dual-core 1.66Ghz Atom-powered Windows 7 tablet in Taiwan. The device has a has a 10.1-inch LED capacitive multi-touch panel with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. It comes standard with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and utilizes Intels GMA 3150 integrated graphics, while it features one USB 3.0 port in its array to deliver high-speed connectivity.

Dell Panerai tablet notebook pops up at FCC

A new dual-mode Dell notebook has turned up during the FCC approval process. In the FCC filing, it is listed as the Dell Panerai, and as incorporating a tablet mode and a laptop mode. The description makes it likely that it will be similar in design and function to Dells Inspiron Duo 10.1-inch dual-mode netbook. At this early stage, the main point of difference is that new convertible notebook will center on a much larger 15-inch display.

Google adds tablet UI elements to Chrome OS betas

Google’s plans to support Chrome OS tablets were more tightly defined Thursday after discoveries showed touch elements having arrived in just the past few weeks. The browser now reports itself as “CrOS Touch” for sites that have specific touchscreen elements. An on-screen keyboard has appeared in earnest, and areas like the new tab page have been optimized both to provide more space for fingers and to be “reflowed when rotated (like iPad),” Google said.
