Verizon starts taking pre-orders for HP Pre 2

Buyers waiting to for a carrier subsidized version of the HP Pre 2 can now pre-order the device for Verizon through the HP online store. Unusually, the same offer cannot currently be found on Verizons own website, although it is currently focused on promoting the Verizon iPhone 4. Customers can reserve their HP Pre 2 for Verizon for an expected shipping date of February 17.

Nokia starts huge restructuring plan, rules out Android

Nokia as part of its shift to Windows Phone outlined major changes in organization. Along with moving Jo Harlow to lead the Smart Devices group, which should now handle MeeGo and Symbian as well as Windows Phone, it will put Mary McDowell at the head of the Mobile Phones group that handles basic feature phones. Niklas Savander will handle the company’s Markets group, which oversees shipping and selling all of Nokia’s products.

NTT DoCoMo starts building 4G network

NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s largest cellular provider, announced on Thursday that it has began upgrading its local network to support high-speed, 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) data services. The 4G services should be available before the end of 2010, and the provider is already building new WCDMA (3G) base stations that contain newly developed remote radios that will support both the current WCDMA network and upcoming LTE service. HP starts selling redesigned dm3

HP’s recently updated Pavilion dm3 is now being offered for sale. The 13.3-inch notebook is just one inch thick and weighs 4.15lbs, while offering a choice of ultra-low voltage 1.2GHz Pentium or 1.2GHz Core i3 processors. It comes in a more refined design built to vent heat away from a lap and even to adjust the fans depending on where the notebook sits.
