Amazon making Kindle app for BlackBerry PlayBook

Amazon today was quick to leap on the unveiling of the BlackBerry PlayBook by promising a version of the Kindle app for RIM’s upcoming tablet. It will at least support the Kindle’s characteristic syncing of bookmarks and positions across devices. Other features weren’t mentioned, but the larger touchscreen will likely give it highlighting and note taking similar to the iPad edition.

Two mystery webOS phones, Touchstone dock certified

HP’s next round of webOS phones edged closer to launch today with a certification for Canada and the US. The P102UNA and P102EWW have both shown at the third-party tester TÜV Rheinland and don’t correspond to existing models, such as the original Pre (P100) or Pre Plus (P101). Both may be variants of the Roadrunner HD flagged last month, which would get a 960×640 screen as its centerpiece feature.

Samsung brings N350 netbook with hybrid 3G, 4G to IFA

Samsung as part of its IFA rollouts showed a new netbook with both 3G and 4G built-in. The N350 has both an HSPA+ modem for 3G networks and LTE for 4G in the same 10-inch frame. With the hybrid links, it can connect at a peak 100Mbps on cutting edge networks but still run at a quick 21Mbps on 3G.
