The Logitech Z-5500 achieved an almost cult-like status among a certain slice of the computer and gaming markets, and for good reason: along with a fierce level of power, they were one of the few surround sound setups equally suited to both a gaming PC and a home theater. With the arrival of the Z906, Logitech is blurring the lines even further. Hercules shows XPS Diamond USB speakers

Hercules has just introduced its new XPS Diamond 2.0 USB speakers. Aimed at women, the set sports two drivers shaped like their namesake, a diamond. The set connects entirely using a USB cable, and includes a wired remote.
The speakers are 3.5 inches in diameter and are magnetically shielded. A soft, black velvet carrying pouch is included, with separate compartments. The speakers ship in April, priced at $ 40.
Pioneer preps ultra-thin Sound Wing home theater speakers

Pioneer Japan on Thursday said it will soon ship its so-called Sound Wing home speakers. Based on the company’s HVT (Horizontal-Vertical Transforming) technology, they are ultra-thin at 100mm and minimize vibrations. Quality is not sacrificed, the company claims.
Each speaker weighs 430 grams and offers 100W of maximum output. Other specifications include an 8 Ohm impedance and 160Hz-32kHz frequency response.
Pioneer will ship the speakers in Japan in June, priced at the equivalent of $ 507. [via CrunchGear]
Orb Audio launches line of small but powerful speakers

Orb Audio has expanded and launched their latest line of tiny but audiophile-class, hand-made in the US speakers, called the Orb. The four-inch, 17-ounce round satellites — about the size of a baseball — can function as stand-alone units or be part of a modular system that includes subwoofers and additional speakers. The company says they offer high-quality construction but with direct-from-manufacturer pricing.
