Apple may be close enough to completing Mac OS X Lion that it’s seeding the first release candidates, tipsters said late Friday. TechCrunch‘s source didn’t give a timetable, but there are usually only a few release candidates for most software developers before the final build is made public.

Mar 13th
Hulu gave a sign that its Hulu Plus for Android plans were getting closer with a new teaser in its device list. It now shows the Plus service “coming soon,” but only for certain devices. Using the TV streaming will require “select Android OS 2.2 phones,” Hulu said.

While the details of how the three systems would work, the combination is likely designed to support at least Android and Chrome OS as well as likely other platforms. Third-party app support may let offline software or outside websites More >

Depending on the browser or region, users either get the same $ 8 price Canadians receive, see similar prices for both, or don’t see the option at all. In one case, prices climbed to $ 9 for streaming and $ 10 for a disc.
CEO Reed Hastings had hinted earlier this month that the success of streaming in Canada, where it’s the only option, was an incentive to accelerate plans for a similar More >

Verizon was identified as a carrier for the Palm Pre 2 today through a brief leak this evening. Staff materials given to Engadget show device training mentioned and starting sometime in the near future. Launch details and most other information was kept out of the note.
The update supports growing indications that HP may ship the Pre 2 before the end of the year, possibly as soon as November, rather than wait for the CES expo as it did for the Pre Plus. Most of the details escaped so far have pointed to the Pre 2 being a conservative update on More >
