White iPhone 4 said to show by the end of April
Apr 14th
Talk of the white iPhone 4 shipping in April was backed up Wednesday night through a rumor narrowing down the timing. Both AT&T and Verizon editions would get the long-delayed color by the end of the month. Bloomberg in getting details claimed the manufacturing issues were worse than previously thought and that the original white paint had been peeling under heat.
A sensor was also a problem, one tipster said. Alhough unmentioned, it could be the proximity sensor on the front.
The new color would be necessary for a longer than usual interval between genuinely new iPhones. Two extra sources supported beliefs More >
Nokia E6, X7 show early in official promo videos
Apr 11th
Nokia’s plans for an April 12 Symbian revival grew clearer on Sunday after British carrier 3 and Nokia itself posted briefly available videos (one of which is republished below) of the E6 and X7. The second device, spotted earlier by Nokia Blog, promises not just the known four-inch ClearBlack display and eight-megapixel camera but a newly revamped version of Symbian. The browser should be three times faster than it is in Symbian^3 devices like the N8, a 3 UK spokesman said in one clip, and it should also finally have a portrait ratio on-screen keyboard instead of requiring a switch More >
Dell set to show 10-inch Android tablet in mid-June
Apr 5th
Dell’s burgeoning tablet plans could see it launch its promised Android tablet, likely the Streak 10, well ahead of the Windows equivalent. A leak Tuesday said Dell’s talk of a 2012 launch was conservative and that the Android slate might be ready to show by mid-June, about three months before the Windows model would surface. Marketing details haven’t yet settled, and Forbes‘ contact described the 10-inch tablet as so far “unbranded.”
It would ship in the summer, according to the tip.
Few official details are available, but Dell did say during a fiscal results call that it would ship with Android More >
Sprint may show Evo 3D, Evo View and Nexus S 4G at CTIA
Mar 6th
A scoop on Sunday afternoon may have given clues to a major Sprint Android rollout at the CTIA phone expo late this month. The carrier is expected to have evolutions of a number of flagship Android devices that would include the Evo 3D, a likely sequel to the Evo 4G with 3D video capture and playback, Engadget heard. Another device, the Evo View, is believed to be a tablet and may be a customized version of the HTC Flyer shown just weeks ago.
The third device would be the Nexus S 4G. It would most likely be a direct port of More >
New MacBook Pros show flickering with 24-inch Cinema Display
Mar 6th
Owners of the new 2011 MacBook Pro are reporting on Apple’s boards that the portables have a unique conflict with the 24-inch Cinema Display. Both the 13- and 15-inch models, and likely the 17-inch model, produce intermittent flickering, brief blackouts and other periodic but noticeable flaws when attached to the out-of-sale screen. The built-in notebook display is unaffected.
Users have already tried some of the more common tricks, such as resetting the SMC, but haven’t had any initial success. It also applies whether or not the AMD or Intel graphics are being used. Those with the currently available 27-inch Cinema More >
