Early specs on Intel’s third-generation SSDs were leaked thanks to AnandTech. Originally introduced in 2008, the X25-M G3 SSDs sport a 25nm IMFT Flash, which is expected to bring with it twice the capacity while retaining the same price levels. The drives are sampling now, but it’s unclear whether they will be production ready in 2010.
They are expected to launch sometime between the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next. Capacities will range from 40GB to 600GB. Intel says the new drives will be capable only of 3Gbps SATA speeds, but the standard’s update to More >

Best Buy during a holiday preview today inadvertently spoiled Sony’s Google TV launch through a demo of the set. The Bravia NSX-46GT1 has a 46-inch, edge LED display and uses a USB adapter to get on to Wi-Fi when Ethernet isn’t an option. It behaves like a reference Google TV device, HD Guru noted, and includes both the universal TV/web search and Chrome browsing; it has quick access to Amazon (likely VOD) and YouTube.
The black-and-white hued set will normally get directions from Sony’s own remote, although the session revealed that the concept of Android and iPhone remote control apps won’t More >

A newly posted preview of the yet to be announced BlackBerry Bold 9780 has suggested the phone may be much better in practice than the Torch. Quick tests by BGR support beliefs that it may be using a more recent if still 624MHz Marvell ARM chip and that the doubled, 512MB of RAM may go great lengths to improving its speed, even versus a software-upgraded Bold 9700. The 9780 boots in less than half the time of the 9700 and at least superficially isn’t affected by the slowdowns that plague the Torch.
Although many of the changes for BlackBerry 6 are More >
LG E900/Optimus 7 gets 20-minute video preview

The upcoming LG E900 smartphone, only thus far seen in leaks, has shown up in another unofficial video. The device, which is also being called the Optimus 7 by the source but doesn’t resemble it, was the star of a recent, Russian-language YouTube video (embedded below). The confusion in names was partially fueled by a Microsoft “leak” of the device carrying both designations. Powered by Windows Phone 7, the video seems to showcase the operating system itself rather than any specific features of the handset.
The E900 may possibly be powered by a 1.3GHz Snapdragon chip and get a 3.7-inch More >

Sony tonight sent an invitation to the press for an official unveiling of its Google TV-capable Bravia line. The request implies just one model as the “first Internet Television” and shows a glimpse of a new look that combines the monolithic design of existing sets with a new wireframe stand. Sony doesn’t give clues as to features but expects to have live demos.
Most of the features are likely to be those coming directly from Google itself. The Google TV platform provides live searching of both the web and supported set-top boxes, such as the programming guide and the DVR. More >
