An image of a new BlackBerry handset, codenamed Orlando, has now surfaced on the web, thanks to N4BB. It will combine a fixed design with a hardware QWERTY keyboard with a touchscreen and bears a striking resemblance to the Sedona, the next Curve; it doesn’t appear to be identical, however. It’s likely to ship with OS 6.1 when it does arrive at an undisclosed date.
The same source also showed off a number of spec sheets for the the BlackBerry 9900 Dakota. It’s now known to be powered by the 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655. There is also 768MB of RAM More >

A discovery inside Nokia’s Ovi Publisher Tools has found what could be the start of a new phone series. The T7-00 would be the first Tseries phone but would start out with the same 360×640 resolution and Symbian^3 roots as other recent Nokia smartphones, like the E7 or N8. Mobilesguruji noted that little else was made public.
The appearance could signal a change in direction for Nokia if the early clues hold. It already has the C, E, N, and X ranges to cover basic, business, high-end and media smartphones. The Tseries would either replace one of these or venture into More >

The Acer Liquid Metal smartphone, which has an imminent launch in the UK, has shown up in photos. More curious is the other Acer device in the shoot, however. The unnamed tablet runs on Android and may have been seen before.
If it is the same device, it should sport 7-inch screen and Android 3.0, which will reportedly handle resolutions of up to 1280×760.
The Liquid Metal, meantime, should sport Android 2.2, an 800MHz CPU and a 3.6-inch, 800×480 display, along with Bluetooth 3.0. [via AndroidCommunity]

HP’s next round of webOS phones edged closer to launch today with a certification for Canada and the US. The P102UNA and P102EWW have both shown at the third-party tester TÜV Rheinland and don’t correspond to existing models, such as the original Pre (P100) or Pre Plus (P101). Both may be variants of the Roadrunner HD flagged last month, which would get a 960×640 screen as its centerpiece feature.
Also on show is a listing for a new inductive battery charger. The move hints that the Touchstone will carry on past the current webOS line and will get a redesign, More >

A rumored HTCQWERTY slider Verizon flagship has been spotted in an FCC filing this weekend. While only labeled as the PD42100, the device is clearly labeled for Verizon and matches up with the description of a hybrid CDMA/EVDO and GSM phone mentioned earlier. Its four-inch touchscreen has been confirmed in the few available shots.
Also on show are 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
None of the performance claims can be validated by the FCC, but the same tip that had first shown the phone itself also mentioned a 1.2GHz processor and could make it the fastest Android phone known so far. However, More >
