Oct 24th
MSI on Friday quietly upgraded its GE series gaming notebooks with a modernized mid-range version. The 15.6-inch GE603 upgrades to a GeForce GT 425M for DirectX 11-level video from NVIDIA. Depending on the trim level, it can scale up from a 2.26GHz Core i5 to a 2.53GHz version.
Most configurations share a 1366×768 screen, a 720p webcam, a DVD burner and HDMI out, but hard drive capacities can range between 320GB and 640GB. All systems can have up to 8GB of RAM, but the company hasn’t said what comes standard.

The line includes two particularly high-end chips destined for desktop replacement notebooks and other larger models. The GTX 470M runs 288 visual processing cores, More >

Like the NX800, these feature a slick monolith design, built-in WiFi, widgets and an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the picture in changing room conditions, but other than the 3D-readiness (and coupons for free Blu-ray 3D movies and PSN games, though More >
