As part of the same launch that brought cheaper data plans, T-Mobile today added what’s believed to be the cheapest ever Android phone in the US. The Comet Americanizes the Huawei Ideos and has relatively modest hardware while still running Android 2.2. It runs on a 528MHz processor and a 2.8-inch touchscreen but still has a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and other expectations.
The phone has just basic controls and keeps to Google’s stock version of Android rather than trying a custom layer, possibly speeding upgrades compared to many of its rivals. It should arrive on November 3, the same More >

HTC’s mystery Android QWERTY slider has been spotted today in greater detail than before. The tip to BGR shows the slider, codenamed the ADR6325 and possibly the Merge, much closer to its finished design without the red keyboard background but a metal or metal-effect look. It would ship with Android 2.2 and Sense UI out of the box, but it has a Bing icon that suggests it might not be labeled as a Droid phone.

A TechCrunch report suggests Sweden and Hungary may also be on the list.

BlackBerry Torch sales pushed back to next week in Canada
Sep 24th
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone, which was supposed to launch today at Canada’s major providers, Bell and Rogers, has been delayed by one week, until September 29 and 30 respectively. While no official reason was given, it’s likely the issue lies on RIM’s side, as it’s the common denominator in both cases.
Bell simply updated its Torch webpage to reveal the delay, while the official Rogers blog, Redboard, updated an existing article.
At smaller carriers, Telus and Virgin Mobile, the Torch is simply said to be coming soon.
Rogers prices the Torch at $ 200CAD ($ 195) on a three-year term, while More >
