Virgin Mobile’s LG Optimus V has seen an unexpectedly high amount of demand based on first-hand looks. Every retailer that carries the ultra-budget Android 2.2 phone, including Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, has remained backordered for at least the past two weeks. Android and Me didn’t check, but Virgin’s online store also lists it as “temporarily out of stock.”
The Optimus V is likely to be in sheer demand through its very low price. At $ 150 without a contract, it may be the least expensive Android phone in the US. Virgin’s plans are also much less expensive at just $ More >

It added to the New York Times that it was considering eliminating its share of stickers entirely, although it wouldn’t say how likely that was.
The stickers have been symbolic of one of the chronic problems of Windows notebooks as they have reflected the frequently intricate relationships between PC builders and their component suppliers. More >

A team of engineers at the University of Michigan has created an ultra high-definition display that can display a logo of the school that is just nine microns tall. In comparison, the pixels on the iPhone 4′s 3.5-inch, 960×640 resolution display are eight times larger. It was made possible by Jay Guo, an associate professor in U of M’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, who developed a new color filter made of nano-level sheets of metal with precisely spaced gratings.
These gratings are sliced into metal-dielectric-metal stacks and act as resonators to trap and transmit light of a More >
