HP’s TouchPad cloud music, video plans leak in presentation
Apr 17th
HP’s intention to build a webOS cloud media locker, and possibly beat Apple and Google to the feature, was given more definitive support late Friday after a leaked presentation. A pair of slides describing the TouchPad reportedly showed both the known HP Movie Store but also an intelligent, online music syncing option. PreCentral‘s copy showed that it would not only allow remotely storing and streaming music, including songs users “don’t yet own,” but would determine owners’ preferred music and prioritize it for local caching on the TouchPad itself.
The app mockup in the slide wasn’t likely to reflect the real More >
Leak shows Kinect-controlled Hulu Plus UI for Xbox
Apr 15th
Shortly after Microsoft began pushing an Xbox 360 update to add Kinect support for the Netfix UI, image leaks now show equivalent functionality for the upcoming Hulu Plus interface. The images, which were posted by Joystiq, point to a rotating menu that follows the same theme as the Netfix interface and Xbox Dashboard.
The new menus allow users to navigate the video queue through hand gestures, rather than requiring the standard Xbox controller for input. The system also supports voice commands for basic playback controls.
Hulu Plus integration is expected to be added to the Xbox 360 sometime this spring.

Leak shows Samsung Presto 4G hotspot shipping March 31
Mar 27th
A leak from within Verizon’s internal systems has set a launch date for Samsung’s 4G LTE hotspot. Known through tips as the Presto, the SCH-LC11 should reach online and retail on March 31. Engadget‘s copy of the Verizon Equipment Guide didn’t have price, although most modems and routers are $ 100 or less paired up with a data contract.
The hotspot will share either a 3G or 4G connection with as many as five other devices over 802.11n Wi-Fi within about 30 feet. It won’t immediately stand out versus the equivalent Novatel MiFi 4510L, but it will have built-in GPS More >

The once-thought delayed HTC Trophy for Verizon may still be coming based on a leak reportedly pulled from Verizon’s site. Microsoft staff are now being given a new promotion building on the old one. Those who bought a Trophy would receive at least a $ 100 credit per line, Phone Arena was shown; those who bought it before April 1 would have the entire price reimbursed by Microsoft.
The bundle would also give a leather case and a power charger to any new phone adopter.
Some rumors had suggested the phone wouldn’t arrive until June, although it’s not clear the date had More >
Leak details iBooks collections, PDF mailing and printing
Nov 26th
Apple’s plans to bring folders to iBooks was detailed late last evening in a copy of a leaked user guide update. Referred to as collections, the approach will mirror that of other book apps and will let users make and rename collections of regular books and PDFs that can show on the bookshelf. The 9 to 5 tip showed that regular “Books” and “PDFs” categories will be treated as collections of their own.
PDF readers will specifically get the option to e-mail documents out using the standard iOS mail sheet as well as printing it to a supporting AirPrint device.
