Verizon says Voice over Rev A coming, opens door to iPhone

Verizon late Friday indirectly confirmed some of the rumors swirling around the CDMA iPhone’s ability to handle simultaneous voice and data. Executive Brian Higgins mentioned that the company was working on a way of overcoming CDMA’s inherent limit on data, which prevents the EVDO 3G conection from running at the same time. He didn’t give the WSJ a timetable for when it would be ready.

October 11 Windows Phone 7 event confirmed, T-Mobile coming

Microsoft has quietly detailed that its widely known October 11 event is actually a worldwide launch for Windows Phone 7. The New York City gathering will not only have the first devices and apps but include T-Mobile, not just AT&T. Previously, Microsoft had only mentioned AT&T as a partner.

OCZ intros fast but mainstream Onyx 2 SSDs

Storage products maker OCZ has showed off its latest solid state drive, the Onyx 2 Series. The 2.5-inch SSDs are said to be priced lower than competing products but still sport SandForce controllers. Their maximum read speeds are rated at 270MBps, while write speeds peak at 265MBps.
The Multi-Level Cell drives can be had in either 120GB or 240GB capacities. Windows 7′s TRIM feature is supported and OCZ rates the mean time between failures (MTBF) at 1.5 million hours. Onyx 2 drives work with Windows, Linux and Mac OS X computers.
Pricing for the drives has not been revealed.
