iSuppli: iPad 2 shortages sparked by multiple tech issues
Apr 22nd
Apple’s tightly constrained iPad 2 production mentioned in its results call was the virtue of several technical problems compounding each other, IHS iSuppli believed in an updated estimate. The company had “quality concerns” with the slightly updated LCD as well as touchscreen panel lamination problems, shortages of speakers, and overall initial trouble getting completed iPads. Apr 18th
A source claimed Sunday night that Samsung was looking to sell off its hard drive business. The Korean company had set a target price of $ 1.5 billion but was eager enough to sell it for under $ 1 billion if it couldn’t fetch the intended target. Samsung had warned earlier this month that it would see profits shrink rapidly in its winter quarter results. Its hard drive segment was one of those at More >

The tablet also appeared to be running stock Android 3.0 rather than the custom live panels we saw ourselves at CTIA last month, although whether that will reflect More >
Toys R Us confirms iPad 2 on sale, coming April 17
Apr 17th
Toys R Us has quietly confirmed its plans to carry the iPad 2. The company now has a shopping page telling buyers which stores should carry the tablet. No online store entry exists, though one wasn’t expected since no third-party resellers can currently offer it for sale online.
The company hasn’t been given timing, but a companion leak coming from 9to5 has stores carrying stock as of Sunday, April 17. Its plans will deliberately confine the sales to the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi models and will only offer white for the 16GB version. Smart Covers will also be in store, but More >
