Harman Kardon intros BDS home theaters in a box

Harman Kardon just began offering two home theater in a box systems. The BDS 400 and BDS 800 combine a Blu-ray, DVD and CD player along with an FM tuner along with a speaker system. The former uses two front speakers and a subwoofer, while the latter adds two rear speakers and a center channel.

Canon intros five new portable LCD projectors for pros

Canon on Wednesday announced the upcoming US release of five new portable projectors for professionals. They include the LV-8225, which has a 16:10 aspect ratio, 2,500 lumens of brightness and 1280×800 resolution, along with the closely-related LV-7490, LV-7390, LV-7295 and LV-7290. All five share auto-setup for the input and PC signal type, as well as vertical keystone correction.

Pentax intros second-gen, customizable Optio RS1500

Pentax overnight brought out the second generation of its uncommonly customizable camera line. The Optio RS1500 preserves the swappable faceplates and lens rings to personalize the look but upgrades to keep in step with modern compacts. It shoots with a 14-megapixel sensor and a 4X (27.5-110mm equivalent) lens, though Pentax keeps the price low by using sensitivity alone (up to ISO 6,400) to stabilize the shot.

Adobe intros experimental Flash to HTML5 conversion tool

Adobe has released an experimental Flash to HTML5 conversion tool on Adobe Labs, codenamed Wallaby. Wallaby is an AIR application that allows designers and developers to convert Adobe Flash Professional (FLA) files into HTML5 with a simple drag and drop. This allows developers to expand the distribution of Flash-based content across platforms, including iOS devices like the iPad and iPhone, without having to develop native HTML5 code.

Samsung intros 9-Series notebook to rival MacBook Air

Samsung has introduced a new notebook, the 9 Series, with a feature set that competes directly with other small notebooks such as the MacBook Air. The device integrates a 13.3-inch display with LED backlighting, a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, and 400-nit brightness. An ambient light sensor automatically adjusts display brightness and keyboard backlighting.
The 9 Series offers a profile slightly thinner than the 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air, with a housing measuring just 0.62-inches thick. The frame and housing is built from an aluminum alloy, helping to keep the weight under three pounds.
