Apogee unveils Duet 2 USB audio interface for Mac
Apr 1st
Apogee’s USB2 audio interface and “studio in a box,” Duet 2, now features a full-color OLED display to offer visual feedback for its multiple functions, including metering, input and output and more. It offers full 24-bit/192kHz recording, new configurable touch pads, Soft Limit technology, a breakout cable and Maestro 2 software, along with completely re-designed mic preamps, four balanced outputs, and an independent speaker.
The Duet is used to capture sound recorded using a mic or directly plugged into it. It uses a fully-redesigned breakout cable to convert its one I/O port into two mic (XLR) or two line/instrument (1/4-inch) More >
Logitech revamps Netflix interface for Revue box
Dec 1st
Logitech is reportedly preparing to launch an update to the Revue software, which brings notable improvements to the Netflix utility. As detailed in several screenshots posted on AndroidCentral, the update UI appears to provide a full set of menu options for searching, browsing by genre, or viewing new arrivals.
Users are currently limited to viewing content that has already been placed in their Instant Queue. The update appears to bring the Netflix functionality up to speed with other set-top boxes, such as Apple TV.

Notion Ink previews Adam tablet’s Eden interface
Oct 11th
Notion Ink this weekend explained some of the first details behind the custom interface for its Adam tablet. The 10-inch Android tablet will build on Google’s formula with Eden, a multitasking system based around panels: each app will run in a panel with a home area to pick which panels are running. A multitasking mode will allow three apps to show at once, making it possible to run non-optimized apps without wasting space.
Other apps will run in a “deep sleep” mode that won’t impact performance. Apps should in theory interact with each other, although most Android apps aren’t written More >
OCZ outs High-Speed Data Link SSD interface
Sep 29th
Computer storage maker OCZ on Wednesday said it has developed a High-Speed Data Link (HSDL) interface to help speed up the transfer speeds of SSD drives. With the bus technology, OCZ hopes to eliminate I/O bottlenecks and enhance high-performance computing for its pro users.
OCZ says that, at up to 20Gbps of bandwidth per channel, HSDL is significantly quicker than other existing interfaces including SATA and SAS, which only reach up to 3Gbps and 6Gbps, respectively. Also, multiple HSDL channels can be combined to boost speeds further in either home or enterprise applications.
The first drive to use HSDL will More >
AIST’s i3Space tactile 3D interface: destroyer of (virtual) worlds
Aug 27th
Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, to friends) is responsible for a good many innovations that the denizens of the year 2030 take for granted, and the new i³Space certainly won’t tarnish the institute’s record. Built on the foundation of AIST’s own GyroCubeSensuous for tactile feedback, the i³Space tracks the motion of the operator’s two index fingers in 3D space, and sends back “illusionary tactile and kinesthetic sense” through the controllers. Details are still a little thin, but AIST plans to show the full rig off at CEDEC next week, with eyes on reducing the size More >
