Despite their legal feud regarding the Blu-ray player in the PS3, LG Display is in talks to supply passive 3D TV panels to Sony, the former company said Thursday. LG is looking for partners as it hopes to oust Samsung as the number one 3D panel maker, who has 60 percent of the market. LG’s new technology is called Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR), which relies on passive 3D technology, making the required glasses two to three times lighter and less costly due to the lack of a built-in battery.
