Samsung Galaxy S’ Android 2.3 updates stopped by Google

Vodafone has taken to its support forums to reveal a freeze on the Samsung Galaxy S update to Android 2.3 for the UK and other areas. The delay is likely to apply to all Galaxy S handsets at other carriers, as the update was suspended by Google. Exactly what the issue is with the update hasn’t been revealed.

Slimmed Galaxy Tab 10.1 tested, may outdo iPad 2 after all

Samsung’s newly thinned Galaxy Tab 10.1 was given a hands-on Friday (video below) that supported its fiercely disputed claims to having a thinner design. Well-known prototype leakers at Vietnam’s Tinhte found the supposedly 0.33-inch Android 3.0 tablet in working form at a trade show and gave it a quick demo, proving that it still had the speed of the dual-core Tegra 2 but did appear to be slightly thinner than the iPad 2. Samsung Galaxy S gets Android 2.3 in Europe

Samsung began making amends for long upgrade intervals with reports from users that it was pushing out Android 2.3 to some Galaxy S models. Europeans, including the Netherlands and multiple other countries, are being told of a new build when they sync the phone with Samsung’s Kies app on the PC. Early anecdotes from the XDA-Developers forum suggest the build is fast and lag-free.
Most are expecting the update to lead to an official source code release from Samsung that would let users load unofficial firmware.

Samsung Galaxy S II reportedly pushed back to May

After missing its originally hinted ship date of March for the Samsung Galaxy S II, UK retailer Clove has now revised the listing for May. Exactly when the Android 2.3 smartphone will ship in May isn’t being revealed, however. The 16GB model will cost he equivalent of $ 860 (£528), though, including all local taxes and without carrier contracts. The 32GB version will also be available, initially priced at the equivalent of $ 1,152 (£708) tax-inclusive, though when it arrives and final pricing is yet to be finalized.
