Toshiba unwraps 24nm flash memory in possible iPhone 5 clue
Apr 6th
Toshiba upgraded its NAND flash memory Tuesday night in a possible hint at the timing and features of the iPhone 5. Its new SmartNAND is based on a dense 24 nanometer process and allows flash chips up to 64GB for “media players, tablet PCs” and other devices. Along with being more space-efficient, the new design has a better memory controller that speeds up reads and writes.
All of the chips now have their own built-in error correction to take some of the work of guaranteeing accurate date away from a given device’s main processor.

Xoom Wi-Fi tipped for March 27, Flash 10.2 leaks out

Two hints have emerged that the Motorola Xoom might become more competitive soon. A leaked Staples flyer has the Wi-Fi version of the Xoom reaching stores on March 27. Droid-Life‘s copy also showed a $ 600 price, giving it a price on par with a 32GB iPad 2 but higher than the rumored Sam’s Club price of $ 539.
The Android 3.0 tablet should be virtually the same as the one on sale with the exception of the removed 3G, but its $ 200 lower price could significantly increase its competitiveness in the market. Analysts have been predicting low initial More >
Adobe Flash 10.2 to reach Android phones, tablets March 18
Mar 11th
Adobe on Friday morning said it would launch Flash 10.2 for Android devices on March 18. Both Android 3.0 tablets like the Xoom, as well as Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices, should get the release at the same time. The Android 3.0 version is a beta release but will also get special treatment.
Owners of the Xoom and future 3.0 tablets will see pages rendered directly in the website itself rather than layered over top. The approach greatly improves scrolling, especially when mixed with animated GIF images and other more complicated content.

Motorola in a brief update said it had posted the first firmware update (PDF) for the Xoom. The upgrade includes “required enhancements” to get ready for Flash 10.2. The update would be staggered over the night, though Motorola didn’t say when Flash 10.2 would arrive.
A fix for daylight savings time is also in the patch.
Adobe promised that it would arrive in a few weeks after launch. Despite being advertised as a selling point, Flash didn’t come preloaded as it wasn’t ready in time. The 10.2 version could be a major improvement over past implementation of Flash by adding hardware More >
