Seagate trots out 1.5TB portable external drive with USB 3.0

Seagate this morning reached another record for storage with a 1.5TB version of the FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable drive. The disk is the first 2.5-inch drive to reach the density and still claims a possible edge in speed. It ships with a USB 3.0 cable that gives it a theoretical 5Gbps peak speed, and as a GoFlex drive it can switch to FireWire 800 or another high-speed format.

Toshiba ships out cheap Canvio Basics external drives

Toshiba has just released a family of new straightforward external drives, the Canvio Basics. Coming in 320GB, 500GB and 750GB capacities, the USB 2.0 drives come without frills and are meant as uncomplicated extra storage. All are available only in glossy black finish.
They share an internal shock sensor, ramp-loading technology and a three-year warranty. All have 2.5-inch drives inside. The 320GB model is priced at $ 80, the 500GB at $ 100 and the 750GB version at $ 120.
Snappy looking Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 GFX boasts 1GB external graphics

Fujitsu’s announced a new laptop, the Lifebook AH530 GFX. An update to the already available Lifebook AH530, this one’s got an external graphics card with 1GB of dedicated video memory. Other than that, it boasts the exact same specs as the previous model — a 15.6-inch glossy LCD, optional Core i3, i5, or i7 CPUs, up to 8GB of RAM and an up to 500GB HDD, a choice of Blu-ray or DVD drives, and HDMI output.
