Droid X 2 boot sequence backs dual-core processor
Apr 15th
Yet another sighting of the upcoming Motorola Droid X2 has shown up, again thanks to AndroidCentral. This time, however, a video of the boot-up screen was found, adding further evidence to the likelihood that the device is powered by a dual-core processor, with earlier, unofficial reports naming it as the NVIDIA Tegra 2. This would make sense, as Motorola uses the same chip in other products, including the Xoom, Atrix 4G, and the upcoming Droid Bionic.
The successor to the Droid X is likely to get a more advanced eight-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording. It More >

HTC’s dual-core Evo 3D unveiled, we go hands-on
Mar 22nd
Sprint at its CTIA event brought out its new headlining phone for 2011, the HTC Evo 3D. The phone is the fastest HTC has ever made, with a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon, and uses the extra power to be even faster and more efficient than the T-Mobile G2X or other rival devices. Qualcomm’s chip is asynchronous and downclocks one of the cores if it isn’t being heavily used, keeping the dual cores alive but improving the battery life, allowing one core to work at full speed but saving battery life.
The 3D is a close match for that of the Optimus More >
HTC Shooter may be Evo 3D, bring dual-core and qHD to Sprint
Mar 17th
HTC’s Evo 3D may have been spotted under its working codename in a GLBenchmark test. The Shooter would be a high-end device running Android 2.3 and a 540×960 screen on Sprint’s network. While the processor wasn’t caught, the phone is running Qualcomm’s new Adreno 220 graphics and would have to be a Snapdragon; original spotter Blog of Mobile has speculated that it would be a 1.2GHz dual-core chip.
While it isn’t attached to the Evo 3D badge by name, the phone is the only one of the three devices Sprint is expected to show next week that doesn’t already have an More >
Qualcomm in at least 10 dual-core tablets, mum on iPhone
Nov 5th
Qualcomm when discussing its fiscal results revealed that it’s heavily involved in dual-core tablets. At least 10 tablets would use dual-core Snapdragons, company president Steve Mollenkopf said. It was “difficult to say” if the segment would be very popular, he added, but Qualcomm was getting involved knowing that poorer countries and other segments wouldn’t adopt tablets in the near future.
“In the developing world, I think will you tend to see a number of different types of devices go in there, mainly because there is no laptop market for them to have to displace,” Mollenkopf explained. “We’ve already seen that More >
