Toys R Us confirms iPad 2 on sale, coming April 17
Apr 17th
Toys R Us has quietly confirmed its plans to carry the iPad 2. The company now has a shopping page telling buyers which stores should carry the tablet. No online store entry exists, though one wasn’t expected since no third-party resellers can currently offer it for sale online.
The company hasn’t been given timing, but a companion leak coming from 9to5 has stores carrying stock as of Sunday, April 17. Its plans will deliberately confine the sales to the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi models and will only offer white for the 16GB version. Smart Covers will also be in store, but More >
Promo materials hint HTC Flyer coming to T-Mobile USA
Mar 28th
A detailed leak on Sunday has given clues that the HTC Flyer should come to T-Mobile, and possibly the US. Detailed marketing materials, including in-store stands, have clearly attached the Android 2.3 tablet to the carrier. PocketNow‘s copies don’t explicitly name the US, but one shot shows a T-Mobile YouTube channel; only the US has a presence on the video page.
An American T-Mobile version would have to switch to its native 3G bands and might move to HSPA+ to get some added speed. It would be unlikely to move away from the 1.5GHz Snapdragon, rear five-megapixel camera and front More >

AT&T says Atrix 4G isn’t capped, HSUPA 3G coming
Mar 11th
AT&T in a Better Business Bureau response defended itself against accusations that the lack of HSUPA 3G on newer smartphones was intentional. Customer Appeals Manager Sheila Utech insisted that phones like the Atrix 4G didn’t have their upload speeds capped. She confirmed earlier tips and said AT&T was still testing the faster 3G, which would reach the Atrix, and other phones like the Inspire 4G, once ready.
The statement didn’t explain why HSUPA was active on the iPhone 4 and 3G modems, leading many to believe that Apple and data-only devices received special treatment. Utech’s remarks also didn’t explain why More >
Google says Chrome OS coming to handhelds, tablets, TVs
Nov 26th
Google’s VP of engineering for Chrome Linus Upson in an interview late Wednesday called out his company’s plans to expand Chrome OS beyond netbooks. The web app platform was designed for traditional compute design, he acknowledged, but it had the potential to be an alternate to Android on small-sized devices and Google TV on very large screens. It would eventually have touch since tablets are also in the long-term plans, Upson told the New York Times.
“We are starting with laptops and we will expand in both directions,” he said.
The statements directly contradict those of CEO Eric Schmidt, who at More >
