Netflix says House of Cards deal not a strategy switch

The rumor of Netflix having purchased the yet-to-be-filmed TV drama House of Cards has now been made official. The political thriller stars Kevin Spacey and spans 26 episodes in two seasons. In an interview with AllThingsD, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos explained that the deal didn’t represent a major change in the way the company does business.

AT&T switching to 4G-ready SIM cards

AT&T’s plans to roll out a 4G network in 2011 are well underway, judging by this leaked internal memo. Courtesy of BGR, the leak shows AT&T is readying 4G SIM cards, with as many as eight different variants. Store employees are being urged to double check the numbers to ensure they provide customers with the right card.

AMD makes Radeon HD 6850, 6870 next-gen cards official

AMD tonight kicked off the launch of a new graphics core generation by launching the Radeon HD 6850 and 6870. The designs are roughly on par with the performance of the outgoing 5850 but, through a new architecture, are considerably cheaper at $ 179 (6850) and $ 239 (6870) while still being more power efficient, particularly at idle. The chip designer claims a performance edge of as much as 30 percent over the GeForce GTX 460; the move has already forced NVIDIA to drop the GTX 460′s average price to $ 199 to compete.

Toshiba outs record-setting SDHC memory cards

Toshiba has revealed new SDHC memory cards with the Ultra High Speed I (UHS-I) standard that enables them to reach maximum data read rates of 95MBps and write speeds of 80MBps. This makes them the fastest SDHC UHS-I memory cards in the world. The cards can thus far only use these speeds in USB 3.0 readers, as no camera can fully use their performance.
