BlackBerry smartphone maker Research in Motion has no way of providing government officials access to encrypted e-mails sent by its devices, but companies that use the service need to opt to allow access. RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie said in a recent interview that the company won’t object if companies do this, according to a Tuesday report. In the currently ongoing India dispute, for example, the government could set up a national registry where companies could provide access to the encrypted messages to their host country’s security agencies.
