AMD may scrap annoying Windows notebook logo stickers

AMD may finally end a chronic problem with logos on Windows notebooks using its hardware, the chip maker commented today. Having discovered that most buyers don’t like the stickers advertising processors, graphics and other parts, AMD hopes to now make the stickers easily removable sometime in 2011. It added to the New York Times that it was considering eliminating its share of stickers entirely, although it wouldn’t say how likely that was.
The stickers have been symbolic of one of the chronic problems of Windows notebooks as they have reflected the frequently intricate relationships between PC builders and their component suppliers. More >

ASUS ships 18.4-inch NX90Jq media notebook

ASUS is now selling its large NX90Jq multimedia notebook, first debuted at CES early this year. The desktop replacement sports an 18.4-inch, 1080p display and is powered by Intel’s quad 1.6GHz Core i7. Unique touches include the dual touchpads on either side of the keyboard and SonicMaster audio developed in conjunction with Bang & Olufsen, the speakers of which are integrated into the top lid.
Inside, there is also a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT335M graphics card, along with 8GB of DDR3 RAM. One of the dual 640GB hard drives contains Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and ASUS makes a Blu-ray drive standard.
