HTC Pyramid seen live again, running Android 2.3
Mar 30th
HTC’s flagship Pyramid has been spotted again in a scoop that has shown it running and also put to rest some rumors. Despite claims it would use Android 3.0, a source showed XDA-Developers proof it was still using Android 2.3, much like the closely related Evo 3D. The confusion likely came from HTC’s use of Sense 3.0, which adds 3D home screen switching among other changes.
The device’s hardware profile in Android also gave an opportunity to confirm the widely suspected specifications. Apart from the use of 14.4Mbps HSPA 3G instead of WiMAX, it should be much like the Evo 3D More >
Google accuses China of hacking Gmail again to quash protest
Mar 21st
Google on Sunday accused the Chinese government a second time of hacking into Gmail accounts to suppress dissent. Over the past month, Chinese customers alone have had numerous problems sending or flagging messages. Activists were allegedly the main targets, but this time the attacks were deliberately obscured to make it seem as though it was a service glitch, Google’s response to Guardian inquiries said.
China had yet to officially respond to the accusations. In the past, the government has denied any involvement of its own, even after Google said it could trace the original attacks to a university China has regularly More >

It shows what could be either a custom news and weather app or else home screen widgets; they superficially resemble some of the screen-filling widgets from the Galaxy S II.
The extras if real would be a step beyond what’s been seen on the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which is so far a completely stock Android 3.0 tablet. Samsung More >
Miller wins Pwn2Own again with iPhone 4 exploit [U]
Mar 12th
[Update: Miller says Apple will issue a patch] Hacker Charlie Miller, who has repeatedly won the CanSecWest “Pwn2Own” security competition in Vancouver, seems to enjoy owning Apple products — but mainly by winning them after demonstrating a security vulnerability. Miller, who has previously compromised an (original) MacBook Air and has since focused mostly on vulnerabilities in Webkit and Safari, used that technique again this year to compromise an iPhone 4, thus winning it. The exploit Miller used has been blocked in the release of iOS 4.3, but the vulnerability in Webkit still exists, he told ZDNet.
The exploit, which relies on More >
