Some details of the upcoming successor to Nikon‘s Coolpix P6000 point and shoot digital camera have been revealed by NikonRumors. The sensor‘s megapixel count will be reduced from 13.5 to 10, and it will be iPad 2 teardown shows slightly better battery [U]” href=”http://www.4zb.net/ipad-2-teardown-shows-slightly-better-battery-u.html”>slightly bigger, at 1/1.7 inches versus 1/1.72 inches. The lens, however, will have more reach, as it will have an equivalent range of 28 to 200mm, rather than the P6000′s 28-112mm glass.

The focal length is only slightly changed, from f/2.7-5.9 to f/2.8-5.6. In comparison, the Canon G11 Nikon reportedly sees as the P700’0′s competitor sports a 28-140mm, f2.8-4.5 lens.

The P7000′s less complex sensor should improve the camera‘s light sensitivity, as the larger pixels can take in more light.

When the P7000 comes to market is unknown, but the company is expected to unveil new Coolpix cameras on Tuesday.
