Samsung Epic 4G rollout clears issues, goes live

Sprint on its community forums confirmed that the promised firmware update is arriving to Epic 4G handsets, after an earlier delay. Some users are still waiting to receive it, but reports on the XDA Developers forum from those who received it or manually installed it are positive. The update is called DI18 and addresses several issues with the device.
A manual download and install of the software involves loading a ZIP file on to a microSD card and invoking a special boot process to load it on to the handset.

HTC to bring out black Legend, white Desire in Europe

The HTC Legend and Desire will soon be available in Europe in black and white, respectively. The new models are due later in October and the official color names are phantom black and brilliant white. This marks the first time a white Desire will be sold, or an all-black Legend. HTC said major European carriers will sell the handsets, but did not specify names.
Other than the colors, the phones are functionally identical to existing Legends and Desires. HTC has not revealed pricing information for the two new models, but they should cost the same as the currently available versions. More >
Galaxy Tab coming to UK November 1 on all carriers

Samsung Mobile on Friday announced that it will officially begin shipping its Galaxy Tab in UK stores on November 1. This includes Carphone Warehouse, Dixons Store Group and T-Mobile. Although Samsung hasn’t announced pricing information, it did say the device will be available on a number of plans and therefore prices. The seven-inch slate will ship with Android 2.2, sport a 1GHz CPU and have both back- and front-facing camera.

Enhance Technology has unveiled a new high-performance RAID server, the UltraStor ES3160 FS. It boasts 16 SATA II or SAS drives for either 16TB or 32TB of storage, dual active-active RAID controllers, dual I/O modules, hot-swappable dual redundant power supplies and cooling modules. October 11 Windows Phone 7 event confirmed, T-Mobile coming

Microsoft has quietly detailed that its widely known October 11 event is actually a worldwide launch for Windows Phone 7. The New York City gathering will not only have the first devices and apps but include T-Mobile, not just AT&T. Previously, Microsoft had only mentioned AT&T as a partner.
